Daniel Henkin
Daniel Henkin has conducted Jewish and secular choirs of all ages for over 35 years and produced more than 20 choral albums. He founded the Columbia University Clefhangers in 1988, the first secular group there to fully accommodate Sabbath observance. He has directed ensembles at major venues including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. A pioneer in contemporary Jewish a cappella, Daniel’s arrangements are widely performed in North America and Israel. He has taught music theory, history, and choir at several Jewish schools and camps, and is the founding director of Tizmoret, the Jewish a cappella group at Queens College Hillel. In 2016, he received the Covenant Award for excellence in Jewish education.
